I just bought mine few days ago and it is now over heating.
Updated software today , still the same
The phone can't overheat, if it gets too hot it will shut down, if you are recording on 4k the phone will get hot fast, or watching videos for hours the phone will heat up

The feeling is very subjective issue. If it get real overheat the phone will automatic shutdown. Feeling it heat up is not always oveerheating issue.
I close all aps down
have it in my poket and it feels hot.
Barely a week old fone. no doubt its a high spec fone , i have even upgraded the Software.
Its still the same.

Actually on Android system, you will never be able to actual close app. There are a lot run in background. To test it properly, you need to put the phone on standby and left it on the table. Say, 10 minutes then touch your phone. Let's see how hot it is compare when it is in the pocket. Some app search for loacation which is not possible when it is in your pocket. It will try to hunt down the signal and use a lot of power. Then it will become hot and drain battery like crazy.
Try that and you will see....
