OpenVPN does not work

Hello,

I wonder if anyone have succeeded to create a VPN tunnel with the free OpenVPN app (ver: 0.5.18)?

I have been told that ICS (Android 4.0.4) should be able to create tun devices through an API, which is required when creating the tunnel. This function seems not to be working as I got the following error message:

Opening tun interface failed badly

Error: Cannot create interface

On some custom ICS images the permission on /dev/tun might be wrong, or the tun module might be missing completely...

Additional questions:

Could anyone confirm if the API used to create tun devices, is excluded in the current ICS image for Sony Acro S?

If the answer is yes would it be possible / easy to root the phone in order to make OpenVPN working?

Hi!

I have the the same problem. I bought the phone to use it with Open VPN. Sine it is a standrad feature of ICS i was very supprised to find out that it didn´t work.

Have Sony any plans to do a fix for the problem? Or do I have to return my phone and buy another brand that supports the feature?
