offline map capabilities

In the google map app, I saved a region (offline), however I noticed that the avenue names, driving diretions in street are not available. Is that correct?

Apparently you must have the Traffic layer active... then on the saved map, zoom in and the street names will appear (zoom very close)

I did the process and at first the street names would not come up, then I activated the traffic layer and then saved the map. When I zoomed  in the street names came up.

There must be a data connection to see the layers. Right?

Yes, you need it to save the map for offline use.

Then the offline map list will only come up if you hit the menu key wile being offline.

I have saved the map on time that connected to internet.

Now, when I click on the layers icon (there are some stacked layers in the icon), it says

can not complete action without data connection.

Also, it seems that the search functionality must be used with data connection. RIght?
