odd battery charging

Can someone explain this battery charge session? This morning my battery was at 55%. It was charging all night, seemed to have reached 100% than dropped back sharply because the screen was on during charging (developer option). Why on earth would the OS see the charger connected, but consume power off the battery?

hello..well this happens somtimes to my phone too, but the next time i charge it, it is fine.. i guess it's because you didn't unplug the charger when the charging is completed..

The curve looks a bit strange so there may have been a glitch of some kind during this charging session.
What's supposed to happen is that when the battery is full the phone will stop charging the battery and then the phone will run off the battery until the battery level has dropped a bit. Then it will start charging again which means that when you remove the charger the battery might not be at 100% even if you charged it over night. It should however not drop as low as 55% so it looks like the phone didn't resume charging in this case.
If this is a recurring problem for you i recommend that you start by updating the phones software and that you also try another charger.
