Not able to shut down my Sony Xperia M.

Hey there !

Power/lock button is working fine as long as i use it for lock/unlock. But when I try to shut down my phone my long pressing the button, nothing happens. I don't want to shut it down by removing the battery because i am afraid that it might not start again.

I have tried pressing it for a long time. But still nothing happened. What should I do now ??

Power button and volume up at the same time, see if it works to shut down your device. But if you have a defective power button, you might not be able to turn it on.

You could try to remove the battery, but I am afraid you won't be able to turn it on.Try to boot the device in safe mode:

Try a software repair and if that doesn't work then do as Alex above advised

To perform a system repair which will factory reset your phone

Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)

Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the onscreen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

Hey, I know it's been a long time, but I hope it will be helpful for others.

I had the same problem all buttons working, including the power one. But when I tried to take screenshot,or shutting down my phone - no reaction. here's what i did - i removed my battery(i didnt have a choice) and the returned it back. The phone must turn on by itself. I entered my pin and waited a few minutes. When i tried to hold it longer, the button was working perfectly. There must be something wrong with the software, but whatever.

Hope i helped Slightly_smiling_Face
