I'm the only decieved by the lack of new slide QWERTY phones at the MWC? Hope Sony doesn't forget the Xperia Pro line ๐
Come on Sony.
I really don't understand this! From all this forum requests it's clear there is a demand for qwerty slider phones. And since no other mobile phone maker seems to be interested in selling one in Europe, you can have this whole nice to your self!!!
...but you don't care. You will rather make phones that resemble the rest of the marked, only differing on CPU speed and screen resolution (that hold for a few weeks until someone releases a new and even faster phone).
To me this is just plain stupid.
I WANT a qwerty slider! I have a HTC Desire, my first non qwerty smartphone, and I hate it. Thought I would learn to live with it, but no.
Even though I think the Xperia Pro is outdated I asked my employer to get me one of these since it's the only qwerty slider available, but it turns out this phone is not available any more!?!?
Now I really don't know what to do, my HTC Desire is failing on me and I need a new phone, but I want Android and qwerty slider... is that really too much to ask?

Just bought an Xperia Pro, even though the model is already about a year old, as an upgrade to my Xperia Mini Pro.
I would really like to see a high-end slider. I'm OK if the pricing would be similar to phones like the Samsung S3, as long as it has the features to match.
I'll third that,
spot on posts, nice to see some like minded people.
Love Sony devices.2 ps3's in the house, etc. but for some time they have not been ticking all the boxes.
Still stuck with my HTC TP2, and dying to upgrade.
did consider the mini pro. but substandard spec when it was released. my girlfriend has a Galaxy S, could bring myself to get a phone with a lower spec. I'm the nerd not her...lol
and quite right the QWERTY market is wide open. HTC were the daddies in the area, this helped endear HTC in the hearts of the Techies.
HTC produce poo QWERTY's then drop the market totally. although not the only factor, I believe this drop by HTC of QWERTY's has considerably added to their recent decline.
Come on Sony, we're looking for a QWERTY. you can steal the market, or get a solid foot hold back in the smartphone market.
Hopeful Spec
Galaxy S3 with slide keyboard.
or even sexier
Galaxy S3 with slide Keyboard and slide game pad, Duel slider (well you've got the patent, use it)
You were the Best, but now your barely distinguishable from the rest...
i like the smartphones with physical slide keyboards too. physical keyboard gives phone some additional personality:smileycool:
I like with physical keyboards or colored back covers (mini pro has both). The colors make the phone feel "alive", all black phones are just boring.
I'm using a borrowed old LG Viewty Smart until Sony releases a phone with at least the following features:
-4G network support
-QWERTY keyboard
-BRAVIA Engine LED 4.3 inch or higher (above 310 ppi density)
720 x 1280 (depending on size)
Preferably with Gorilla Glass
High backlighting/contrast, anti-glare coating
-Wi-Fi b/g/n
-Camera 12 MP foto, 1080p video
Front camera 720p video
-Android Ice Cream Sandwich (or later versions)
-Dual-core 1.5 GHz or higher
-1GB RAM or more
-Color SATIN SILVER (like the PS3 :smileysilly:)
Until such phone is available, I will not buy any.
Hurry up, Sony! *wink*
Hi Shawhifox. I totally agree with you. When I heard the news that sony was releasing three new Xperia models my heart raced in hopes that one of them would include a qwerty keypad, but unfortunately that did not happen
Having been a true Sony Ericsson loyalist for years, (Now Sony Mobile) I truly feel they need to come up whith a new model equiped with a qwerty keypad.
I remember my first Sony Ericsson phone the T610. despite not having a qwerty keypad, it was a looker and always had evryone asking me where I got it from. Over time I upgraded to the P800 smart phone and later the P990i. Finally when sony introduced the Xperia line I was one of the first to jump and purchase the X1. I later moved on to the Xperia X10 which was good however its touch sensitivity needed improvement and lacked the qwerty keypad. I kept saying to myself when are they going to make another upgraded version of the X1 considering how much I loved the builtin qwerty keypad. This finally came with the Xperia Pro. which I curently use till this day.
I love my Xperia Pro however it is once again time for a new and upgraded version. I used to continuously compete with the likes of fellow Apple and samsung advocats and while processor speed was somewhat comparable the key point that always used to win me the arguement was the fact that the Xperia Pro was equipped with an 8MP camera, Sony Bravia chip for great image capturing and ultimately the physical qwerty keypad.
Now the new versions are great but they miss that ever so important piece of hardware. I believe that if Sony unvailed a new model with the specifications of its new Xperia V and added a nice qwerty keypad, dual sim capability, larger clearer speaker, Miracast capability, larger battery, while still somehow keeping it water resistant, they would surely have themselves one amazing phone capable of competing against many of the top end models out there with the ability to win any argument based on the mere fact that no other phone would be packing this much hardware under its hood.
Apologies for the long post. I am truly pasionate about Sony Xperia and can sometimes lose myself in the conversation.
I want an upgraded mini pro, same size just a little thinner and more ram, I really dont want a widescreen laptop in my pocket they are just too massive.
Physical keyboard is a winner
