No Hangouts notifications after lollipop

Ever since i upgraded to Lollipop my hangouts has been acting strange. Sometimes i get the notifications of my SMS's but most of the time i either get them a while after or it just doesn't inform me the sms has arrived. I've check all the settings and all the other messangers like whats app and facebook messanger all work fine. It doesn't let you delete the app as its stock, but even deleting the updates and reinstalling has made no differernce. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you fix it?

You have to close the app, if you leave hangouts open (screen off) you won't get notifications.

Yeah, i figured that bit out. But mine still does it when i close it down via the open app drawer (square button). Sometimes i find that sending messages doesn't always work, which they used to before, but i'm guessing that could be a fault at my carriers end.

If you have poor network coverage your messages won't be sent.

The signal strength is fine (4G coverage as well at my house). As I said this has only started after I upgraded. I love the hangout app, hence the reason I've stuck with it. The only other issue I have with Lollipop is the battery (doesn't everyone lol), but thats not that big an issue for me.

I"m not sure if you are aware of this, but if you reinstall lollipop with PCC it will smooth things out

I've seen the PCC mentioned a few times but i've never used it. I'll give it a go when I get home. I take it my phone will need to be at 50% battery or more?

Hi Winnieblade,

You could also check to make sure that notifications have been allowed.

Menu > Settings > Sound & Notifications > App Notifications > Fine Hangouts and make sure it is enabled.

Also try this Menu > Settings > Apps > Downloaded > Hangouts > make sure the Notifications box is ticked.

And the application itself,

Menu > Hangouts > Menu button > Settings > Hangout notifications > Make sure they are ticked.
