no dialer shortcut on contacts page

hi all

on the Phone page on lollipop, there's a shortcut at the top to Contacts, yet if you go straight into Contacts, there's no corresponding shortcut to take you to the Phone (i.e. the recent calls/call log/dialer app).

This strikes me as a an odd omission. I know that I've wanted to jump from Contacts to the call log and all I can do is goto the home screen and then back into Phone.

Surely it would be simple to put a shortcut in on Contacts to the mirror the equivalent on the Phone page?

Thanks,

Gary

If you open the phone then open contacts you can press "Back" and will take you back to the call log.

Thanks for the response Phy.

Your solution obviously works but completely ignores the obvious omission of a single, simple link from Contacts to Phone. There are times when I go into Contacts first. I shouldn't need to go from Phone to Contacts, just so I can get back to Phone, as necessary.

All I'm saying is that it's just weak UI design for this to have been missed out (unless there's a good technical reason for it, which I can't imagine there is).

Gary

In what case you need to go from Contacts to Phone? You can always tab a contact number and you'll be forwarded to phone automatically for call, or long press a number to select "Edit before dialing" and it will also forward you to phone with number typed in dialer.

I've been using the Contacts list (to look up some info) and then had a separate phone call to make, unrelated to my use of Contacts. For example, returning a recent call, not stored in Contacts.

For the sake of putting a tiny "phone" button in the same place as there's a contact icon on the Phone page - it's not tricky and provides functionality.

Then use the "Recent apps" feature to swap between apps. Anyways it's always worth to forwards your suggestions directly to Sony:
