New Xperia L, how to upgrade?

  Hi All Slightly_smiling_Face

New to the forum, and new to the world of Sony Smartphones. (Previously used, Blackberry, Samsung.)

Just bought a new Sony Xperia L Slightly_smiling_Face I have never used an Android phone before, so I hope the Forum will be helpful. I wanted to know, how do I upgrade the OS in my phone? Is there a specific site I goto to download upgrades?

I would like to upgrade the phone before I start putting in contacts etc. Also I read that Xperia L might be getting Android Lollipop 5. 0. is it true? where and how may I upgrade my phone to it? Thanks in advance for the replies,

  YZ.

I am very interested in the AOSP and the open sourced drivers that SONY make available.

Is it possible to use the drivers provided to build our own android ROM using the Android Open Source Project (AOSP)?

If not, why not, and is there anything we can do to make them work?

CyanogenMod has official nightlies for Android 5.0 for the XPERIA L, which suggests that getting the drivers to work is indeed possible.

Another thing I'd like to know, is how come the CM dev(s) who made the drivers work, haven't contributed the changes back to SONY's Git repos?
