Hey so my friend just got a sony xperia z1 compact euro version i believe, only problem is he lost the sim card and cannot get into the pass code to the phone.
Meaning i cannot get into the settings menu's to see what kind of stock kernel and software it came with. Fron wat ive read it had android 4.2.2 is this correct?
i will load up some pics of the phone front and back and see if u can help me identify it. Im pretty sure its the compact one becuz with a ruler from corner to corner it measures roughly 4".... and i believe they are 4.3" so i might be off a lil. It does have the flash directly underneath the camera on the rear if tht helps at all,...
Main purpose for this i just want to basically hard reset or load a root. I cannot hard reset with Sony PC companion becuz you have to have phone unlcocked and the sim inside and it wont recognize with a new sim becuz of the screen lock code i believe.
Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
You should still be able to reset the phone via PC Companion. In PC Companion you press start on Support Zone > Start on Update the phone/tablet software > Repair phone/tablet (the blue clickable link in the message) > Follow these steps without having your device connected to the PC.
Follow the instruction that appears in the program and do not connect your device until this guide tells you how to connect it. The phone should also be powered off while performing this software repair.
i cannot use pc companion, i do not have the original sim card and do not know the passcode... it comes with a pop up everytime i hookup saying it need the sim an d phone passcode. There is no program where i can bootload like all other androids and load original software before u root?
But since the phone should be powered off and not connected to the PC at the start, you should not need the passcode or a SIM-card. Follow the steps in my previous post and you will start a step-by-step guide in PC Companion that will take you through the repair process and inform you when and how to connect the phone.
