New lollipop software update crashed my phone

Hi all,

I had my z3 for a while now, and I am updating its software upon release. However, after updating the last lollipop software 5.1.1, my phone crashed, how:

1. It keeps rebooting.

2. Phone, messages and contacts applications' are not working

How can this issue be solved? should I downgrade my software (if applicable)?

If you upgraded to 5.1.1 on your old software, I'd suggest that you do a PC Companion phone repair, this will do a clean installation of the latest firmware and will also wipe your internal memory.

Open PC companion -> Support zone -> Phone/tablet software update -> Repair my phone/tablet (blue link style). Follow the steps given, do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable.

Hi Hsaghir, welcome to the community!

I agree with Quester ont this one. Here are some steps on running the repair on a MAC computer in case you have one:

back up using Bridge for Mac
1. Launch Bridge For MAC.
2. Select "Back up your Xperia device".
3. Select the data you wish to back up from your device
(the windows can be expanded for more detail as below;
then select "Next".
4. The backup will now be in process, do not disconnect
the phone while this runs.

Running the software repair on Bridge for Mac:
1. Launch Bridge for MAC without the handset connected.
2. On the Main Window select "Xperia > Repair Xperia
Device".
3. Ensure the phone is charged and select "Ok" in the
following window.
4. Select Continue on the following page.
5. Wait until the initialising step is finished the
continue as below.
6 . Select your model of phone from the list that appears
7. Follow the connection steps that appear, ensuring that
you are holding the relevant button down before during and
