Network No Connection to 3G continued on Xperia L

I have posted previously in repsonse to another forum member but decided to outline what I have tried to use 3G.

I did the usual resets - battery and SIM out and in etc.

Contacted SIM provider (TESCO) O2 in UK, entered settings manually and tried to pick up a 3G network connection in more locations than space permits me to no avail.

SIM provider sent me a new SIM, repeated above in several locations including a new area a four hour drive from home.

Decided to ring Sony helpline at 10pence per minute for over 30 minutes and spoke to the Angel of the North (sorry if you are not in the UK) helpline person and had to spell every word I spoke being originally from somewhere a tad shy of Wiagn Pier, and then held a Four Candles conversation (Two Ronnies sketch). Person left phone more than once to sneeze, consult with a colleague etc. and I patiently listend to music but only knowing a little classical and folk music could not sing along. Finally told as I could get a wifi connection at home, McDonald, Wetherspoons and the like there was nothing wrong with the phone and could I try Sony Bridge for PC, explained I couldn't as I have an iMac but have sony bridge for mac and have been there and done that.

Finally I said that I have been involved with computers since DOS days and what did Sony intend doing about my phone. The person probably baffled at the word DOS finally said it could be sent for repair and took my details, couldn't find the address on the data base (i don't have a door number) so entered it manually. I doubt the phone will be returned to me as there is no such county (maybe the Postie speaks phonetically) and the name of my house is spelled incorrectly as well. I put a note in as requested to explain 3G not wifi is the problem and what my address really is. I probably got the Newbie so hope I was patient.

Please Sony, when we have done everything we can take a look at the unit you sold us. My house is full of Sony, I would hate to lose it.

Hello all,

Since 5 days now, i have a problem with the data transfert.
Everything works well with 3g (H) connection, but if the network goes to a 2g (Edge) connection I loose internet. I can see that my mobile upload something, but nothing is downloaded in return. To fix this problem, I need to deactivate data transfert and reactivate it.

Second problems, if the battery goes below 10%, my phone switched off and I can not switch it on (the red led blink 3 times).

I didn't have this problem before and I did the update to 4.2.2 two weeks ago.

Any idea to resolve these issues ?

Many thanks in advance.

I had have trouble even connecting to the internet with 3G. I rang my SIM provider and they talked me through the settings as the settings they sent by text would not work. What the guy told me was that 2G is not reallly an internet connection so probably won't work or not well. I live in a 2G area so bad news until I travel.

I have the settings entered manually with instructions from my service provider. I went to a 3G coverage area on Friday and a different one today. No internet connection in either unless on wifi. There must be a flaw with Xperia L as my partner easily gets 2 and 3G connections on a Blackberry Z10.

Why can no one post a solution?

I have returned the handset twice to Sony, first time it came back it would not connect to Google, kept taking me to the wifi set up screen (wifi already set up). The paper work said did a OS upgrade (twice in a matter of weeks), so guess they did nothing much. I then contacted my SIM provider and received a new SIM. No joy so today they suggesed the SIM is corrupt, I put another new SIM in again (third SIM todate), still no joy, it is still searching for a Network Operator after ten minutes. SIM provider said it may take up to twenty four hours for my account to be correct but everything else seems to be working.

I seem to be out of options!

Any trouble with the original firmware out of the box? or the issues started after the update?

Sorry for late posting, down with a bug.

Contacted Sony and SIm provider with same email message. Sony said send the unit back - again but SIM provider agent said she had tried something else (or words to that effect.) She even rang me up to apologise. Glory be! It now picks up a Network connection when showing an H or H+ sign. It will not not connect to a network with just the G symbol (only 2G where I live), but at least i can use it when on my travels. I have accepted the Xperia L will not pick up a network connection in my area (or any 2G area), but then we only just got to be able to make a mobile (cell) phone call without hanging out of the upstairs window!

Not Sony's best effort, their repair provider is not great to say the least and their support agents somewhere below that.
