Need help regarding software update

Hi everyone. I need a bit of ur help. Its mid of october & I still don't have the 2.3.3 august update with firmware 4.0 officially neither on the pc companion nor through SE Update service. Now the problem is that I bought my arc in the end of august & a friend of mine bought it a month later in the end of september. He got official update in the start of october but when I connect my phone to the PC it says that the latest software has already been installed.

Now I'm kind of confused that hows its possible that two of us are in the same country, same city n bought the phone from same source but I'm still stuck with firmware 3.0.

Can someone please tell what this problem can be that my phone is not officially getting the software update & what should I do? I don't want to update my phone manually.

well i think the difference is about the serial number production date etc.

As slim says, its something to do with the mobiles serial number data...

You could try this - as pointed out by Silas on the Belgian 2.3.4 update thread:

Type *#*#7378423#*#* in the dialer, this should bring up the Service Info menu. 

Select Software Info, then report back what it says under the Customization Version listing

For example mine states 1247-1073_R1D...  A quick scan of Google revealed 1247-1073 is the UK generic firmware number...

I have checked the software info as you told...it is 1247-3057_R8C & according to some sources searched through google its an indonesian one. Now what should I do? I mean how would I know when I'd be able to get the update :s

but is it sure that there is no fault in my phone & later it will get the update?

i dont think so...

well you can also try this..

go to settings > about phone > software update > accept..

ok can you check his serial number and post it here if possible..

there isn't any option of 'accept' under software update section in settings. And I didn't get clearly which serial number are you asking for to post?

is it saying you already have the latest software ??

your software info was 124730....

if possible get your frnd's phone and check his software info

Hi Mates

I bought my ARC in Sweden and did not yet receive any update “Firmware 4”. I checked the customization version of the phone: 1247-1016-r7d. I checked the version no. with XVD and it says: Germany T-Mobile Branded 1247-1016.

My phone is not branded and the “boot loader” is unlock!

Any suggestion?
