myXperia Question

I just got the Xperia ZL on Friday and have a question about the myXperia app.  How do I disable the daily notifications to sign up for it?  The Android Device Manager does the same thing so it seems pointless to me for both to be active.  I've tried going into my apps > all > my Xperia and unchecking "Show Notifications" but it is greyed out.

Follow the steps below...

1. Go to Settings >> Security >> Device administrators and uncheck MyXperia application.

2. Go to Settings >> Apps >> MyXperia and uncheck Show notifications.

I went to the Device Administrators screen to uncheck the MyXperia application and it was already unchecked.  I tried checking it, then unchecking it in the hopes that doing so may unlock the "Show Notifications" check box, it didn't.  I imagine rooting the device would allow me to deal with notification, but I'd rather not do it unless as a last resort.

EDIT:  I went ahead and signed up for the service and immediately deactivated it.  Since the notification was related to signing up for myXperia, I hope that it registered as an activation and will stop pestering me to do so.  I guess I will find out soon as the notification comes after 24 hours have passed.
