My sony xperia M does not play videos

Good day.

I just recently bought a sonxy xperia M, however everytime I try to watch a movie or any video, my phone doesn´t play it, it saids the video can´t be play. I´m able to watch mp4 videos however I´m wondering if the phone can play other video formats, like: VLC, AVI and so on...

Thank you.

It will support a number of video formats however for formats such as AVI or MKV you are best to look at a third party player such as MX Player from the Playstore. I would also advise testing these videos you are having the problem with by using this app.

Thank you, I did try using that app, MX Player, however only a black screen is shown, no images or sound, just the screen as if the video would be running, but no image or sound.

In this case I would delete the video files from the phone and if they have been transferred for an external source, transfer them back. If MX Player will not play the files then there is a severe issue with the files themselves sorry.

In your case:

- Check the source file in a PC and if it is not corrupt:

- Enable (or disable) the HW/HW+ decoder (and other options) in MX Player settings. I think that should work

Hope that helps

I tried installing MX Player but it has no sound. I also tried changing decoder settings but it also has no effect.
