First try changing the equalizer if you haven't done so already. You can find it under Walkman -> [menu button] -> Sound enhancements. In this menu, also tap "Equalizer" at the top and select "More" and try changing the surround option and see if it makes any difference.
If that doesn't help, have you tried another headset? Does the problem occur with all songs?
