my messaging doesn't work

In one my new phone but when I try texting I noticed I would send it but it wouldn't go off the.screen or show their texts. I an very disappointed as I have already traded it in for a new one and I've just woke up and it's going it again. Why? Does anyone else have this?

You are using the default messages app?And after you send a message,what does it happen?

Just to clarify is this happening with two separate phones? If so do you have a secondary SIM you can test in the phone?
