My Arc just rebooted

I had my recently charged phone (~98% battery) lying on the table next to me. Suddenly I noticed that the screen showed "Sony Ericsson" and after 1 minute or so the startup animation started.. This is the first time the phone has rebooted itself, has anyone else had any issues?

Hi, you have the right to disagree. Slightly_smiling_Face

Anyway, those are just some known facts which is happening among other phones (even with different hardware .... etc).

If, like what you have said that more likely it is one of SE's background task causing the reboot (which we don't know for sure), I believe SE will definitely come up with an update to fix it. Slightly_smiling_Face

iM also facing reboot problem..it didnt happen when i was using the phone..usually i notice the reboot is when i take my phone out of my pocket,it requires me to put in my pin code, which explains that it has rebooted..starting to lose my patience with it as there is the apps arrangement problem and hd video recording audio out of sync problem..

Actually, you can say that its a faulty phone which comes in one every 20-40 units(which shows the bad production quality).but then again..its not only one person who is facing that problem..I too have faced that problem..and whenever it rebooted, i can see that the battery percentage dropped quite a lot, from 5%-10%..
I think SE should recognise this problem as well as other problems and try to come up with an update to fix it..

I guess if a software repair didn't help with the frequent reboot issue, phone should be sent back to SE Service Centre for a warranty repair (possibility hardware issue).

On the other hand, if it is due to some defect/badly coded apps (much difficult to detect unless you have the time), will be another question. In such cases, even a repaired/replacement unit won't help at all.

Anyway, the above comments are just my humble opinion :smileyhappy:.

This is very annoying, My arc is getting this rebooting issue too. chat on the phone and suddenly no voice from my fren, the next i know was the screen showing Sony Ericsson. after reboot, it reboot again, even after I re-install the software. This is just too much, thought that Arc will be better than X10 but it proved me wrong again. Sigh..... this phone is just 1 week old and it is giving me symptoms of 1 yr old phone. Maybe i can only blame myself for giving Xperia another shot. 1st was X10 now is Arc. once bitten twice shy... sigh.....

Despite trying the firmware update, factory reset and running a vanilla setup, my arc was rebooting itself again within hours.  Reluctantly, I've boxed it up and returned it today. Fingers crossed the replacement fairs much better.  If not, I WON'T be giving Sony Ericsson a third chance...

NEW INTERESTING INFO! When I called SE support last Wednesday they gave me one task to try out, which was to take our the memory card. I did and after that action I have not had one single rebooting session! If you have followed my input above you know that I had 10 to 40 reboots per day before I called the SE support, so I doubt this can be a coincidence, 6 days without any rebooting. However I can't use the phoce long term without memory card.

joakimw1,

interesting. does this mean there's problem with the memory card? or is it the interface or drivers/apps for the sdcard?

you don't happen to have a spare memory card to try it out do u? if u have a scapre memory card, try to use it and see if the reboots will still happens.

Please advise if you have tried formatting the memory card as this problem is likely to be corrupt data on the card given the explanation you have provided?

Me and my girlfriend both have Arc since a few weeks ago. My phone works fine, but hers begun rebooting randomly a few days ago. Tried using Update Service yesterday, no apps installed from Market, and also to take out the memory card, but it rebooted today again. Any clues to why this is??
