Mute button being pressed unknowingly! Any solution please?

I have bought new sonyericsson live with walkman , and while I'm answering the calls , mute or loud speaker is being pressed unkowningly ,proximity sensor all the time doesnot lock the screen , some times it miss that, so mute button pressed, other party couldn't hear. I think this is the issue with all xperia phones, Some of friends also facing the same issue?

Is there any remedy for this issue? It seems to be a major desing flaw , Is sony already working on this change for the new release , please let me know.

Thanks

Anjan

I have not noticed this as a common problem. So I suggest that you try to run a repair of the software using PC Companion.

www.sonyericsson.com/pccompanion

Else, a work around would be to tap the on/off key to turn off the screen when you have answered the call.

Thanks Johan for reply .

Yesterday I got an update on the software when I concected to PCcompanion

Build number - 4.0.2.A.0.62 . Mine is just a ver new phone bought it on Feb7th.

Do we have any option like repair software on PCCompanion, It would be really great if sony can do some thing to change these buttons as  for the best user inferface and also user freindly.Because these seem to be fixed in the current version. Let say I would like to see these buttons when I click key so that these loud speaker ,mute options should appear otherwise , I just want to hide them always..

Yes you can do a repair via PCC.

When phone is not connected go to: Support Zone > Software update > Repair phone

Same thing here. Excellent phone for everything except phone calls!!!

It's pretty weird that today you can make almost everything with a phone except the most basic thing.

And I'm not talking only about this proximity sensor bug (which is really annoying) but also about the lack of a dedicated physical button to pick up the call or to hang up. Many times you are talking and if you change the main screen by mistake you end up with an endless call (cannot easily return to the screen where you can hang up).

I also vote for some update to remove those 4 corners during a phone call. The proximity sensor works fine during service tests, but when walking it's almost always working wrong. I guess there's a design flaw related to the position of the two proximity sensors (yeah, it seems to have two), both located near the "S" from the Sony label. The "S" just goes to the middle of the ear when approaching the face, and probably the ear canal is providing that empty space needed from the proximity sensor to release the lock (just guessing a reason for the malfunctioning). So probably it depends much on the different "types" of user ears...

What is really silly is that having two proximity sensors (described in the manual) they put both in the same place (?!?).

Please update the software at least to minimize the problems that you introduced in the hardware.

Diego.
