Music stream stops with bluetooth speaker

I recently bought a small Salora bluetooth speaker. This speaker supports the A2DP profile. Pairing with my Xperia E is fine, and I can play music from the Walkman app. on my phone. But only at low/medium (phone) volume. When I turn up the phone volume, which also makes the speaker play louder, the music streaming will stop after some minutes. Both devices (phone and speaker) still indicate that there is a connection, and the music time counter in the Walkman app just goes on. I can only get it to work again by cancelling/activating bluetooth on my phone. Trying to switch off/on the speaker at this moment won't help, it won't pair again, while my phone is still indicating a bluetooth connection...

When I try to turn up the volume slowly and bit by bit, to test how far I can go, I sometimes get a warning on the phone saying "playing music too loud can damage my ears" Winking_Face  At this point, the music stream will stop soon.

When I also acivate wireless, it's getting worse, and the music stream gets disturbed (stucks now and then), even at lower volume, and stops immediately at louder volume. Also the wireless connection goes down, but starts again after a short time.

As you can imagine, using the bluetooth speaker in this way is not a pleasure. Could this be a bluetooth related bug in the phone? I have the latest firmware on it.

My phone works generally well with my bluetooth carkit, although I had two incidents where it went wrong, the phone saying that the bluetooth connection "had stopped".

The Salora speaker works excellent with a Samsung phone of my son, with much(!) louder volume and no stream cancelling.

Really strange issue actually. The only thing that comes to mind is to repair the phone software via PC Companion:

Have you tried pairing your phone with any other A2DP/bluetooth speakers (or headset) to see if it's the same there?

Thanks for your reply. I will try the repair procedure soon and see if that will help. I also will try to find someone with any other bluetooth speaker and try that. I will put the results here on this forum.

Well, I did not try to repair/reload the phone software yet, but I got a message from PC Companion a few days ago that there was an upgrade available. So I did the upgrade pocedure, and my phone is now running firmware build 11.3.A.2.13.

The streaming problem with my bluetooth speaker seems to be over now! Bluetooth streaming is definitely more stable. Possibly a repair of the old firmware could have solved the problem also, but it's ok for me now Slightly_smiling_Face

I have also tried to combine bluetooth streaming with wireless, and that worked fine. Only during about the first 10 seconds after switching on wireless, the streaming is somewhat disturbed, until the wireless connection is completely established.

So, I was already very happy with this phone (how it performs and how it feels in your hand, it's really great value for money), but now I also can enjoy it with my bluetooth speaker.

I'm glad to hear things worked out! Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with Slightly_smiling_Face

Well, in that case you would have to send in the phone to a service center for repair, as there isn't really much you can do by yourself to solve this. Contact your local Xperia Support for more information:

My phone had the bluetooth streaming problem with the same firmware build as yours (11.3.A.0.47). After upgrading the firmware to 11.3.A.2.13 (through PC Companion) the bluetooth streaming appeared to be ok. So I suggest you try that before sending it to a service center...
