music player does not use "album artist" tag to sort music instead of "artist"

On my computer, every music application utilizes the "Album Artist" tag to group and sort artists. This way, multi-artist compilations with an album artist tag of "Various Artists" don't show up as 12-20 artists per album.

Unfortunately, on the Sony Xperia Active, the music player doesn't use the Album Artist to sort artists, so I now have hundreds of "albums" of 1 song each from hundreds of individual artists on compilation albums.

Is there any way to get the music player to use the Album Artist tag instead of the Artist tag?

Have you tried using music organizing apps in the market? it seems that the music player in the active is limited in terms of the organizing to the option you want.

Re: nolramlb - Yes, I've tried all the major (and some of the minor) music apps in the market. None of them uses Album Artist correctly - and this is noted in their forums.

Re: uliwooly: You are correct about GM; however, I don't want to use Google Music. I'd like for the native player to use tags correctly like all my other software (and portable devices) do.

well perhaps you can PM a Sony moderator (jeff, johan, marcus) so they can pass this request to the developers, it doesn't mean that it will be added

Have you tried using sony media go? I think there is an option there "album by artist". maybe it could sort it out before it transfers the music to the device, i am not really sure, but you can give it a try,
