Multiple Users and SD card

Hello,

I have added users and they all have their own profile and can install apps.

The only problem is that only the owner can use the SD card.

In none of the profiles can I see the SD card in storage.

Also is it possible to share media ie movies and music between users?

Tablet Xperia Z 4G 16G

Android 4.2

Unfortunately i don't know of any way to share media between accounts. Each user gets their own space and only the owner has access to the external SD-card.

I think that sucks and places all android phones and tablets in the middle ages. since Microsoft and Nokia are capable of doing such a thing and at least make proper use of the storage, and have been doing so for years.

This looks like a bad design I think, this not only aplies to Sony but to all Android devices. It look like Google has not really done a good job here.

One of the reasons for not sharing the SD card is security: FAT file system doesn't allow even for the basic Linux type permissions, thus it's impossible to secure a user's files.

I agree it's a bummer but they have to go w/ the most secure of the solutions and not create headaches for themselves.

Hi

I've got an Acer tab running android 4.2.

About the SD card problem I have the same problem but no answer.

But there is a way on my device to share files with others. It might work on yours too.

There is a folder which all user can access its contents. Its address is:

mnt/shell/emulated/obb

Tell me if it works for you.
