I was working with my xperia U, and noticed that multi-touch is a bit crazy on this model.
If I touch with 1 finger and remain there, the touch is perfect, and if i touch the second finger, nice... Everythings okay.
Now, if I remove the 2nd finger.... No more recognized touches are available unless the first one that remains on screen is pulled out from it.
Is it only on my phone?
I tried with "MultiTouch tester" available on market. (I've tried with "MultiTouch Visualizer 2" and works perfectly, but i think most aplications use touch like the previous one MultiTouch tester, at least I noticed on other aplication (a game i guess, cann't remember it) )
Basicly the multi-touch only works on some applications...
It would be awesome if the next update resolve this issue... It's a 2012 model, and problems like this should appear no more.
PS: people, try it with Multitouch Tester (free app), to see what I'm talking about.. I talked with some of my friends, and they don't have this problems, on other brand smartphones =/
I haven't heard about this issue previously, and didn't face it when trying it out myself.
Have you tried updating the software in your phone?
If not; download Sony PC Companion from the link below. Install it and start Support Zone and follow given instructions.

I'm sorry. I think the behaviour changed... I restarted the phone and know it's diferent.
I touch with the 1st finger and stay on screen, then i tap 3 times with the second finger (the 1st one remains on screen) everything is okay. But after the 3 tap, it doesn't wanna recognize more touches...
I think this is not my phone problem. I tried to update it but it said everything is updated. Can you try this with the same app?
I tried with the other app "MultiTouch Visualizer 2" on my xperia and other smartphone.
What happens is :
- when i tap the screen and remaining there with the 1st finger, i start to tap with the 2nd finger, several times. New IDs are generated by each tap with the second finger (the 1st one remains always on screen).
On the other smartphone that i tested, this IDs are not generated and each tap by the second finger is the same as the last touch (i guess, because in this case ID's are not showned cause it simply doesn't use ID's to differenciate the fingers/touches). I think the problem come from these new generated ID's. This app is free as well. Try it if you had time.
I guess this is a issue that can resolve future problems.
Hope I was clearly on this subject.
By the way, thanks for the answer
When you get the information in PC Companion that you already have the latest version, an option for re-installing and repairing the software will appear.
Try that out, because most likely it will solve your issue!

Hi! I am new to sony mobile... I bought a xperia u two weeks ago,and i recently I noticed the same bug that McSilver is talking about... I noticed this on some emulators(snesoid, nesoid, ecc) if i am not wrong the same problem to the first nova game... I did not understean by the topic if s.McSilver have resolved the problem... if yes... How? With Mutlitouchtester this bug is visible... try holding down one finger on the screen, after touch it with second finger some times... after three touches with the first finger remaining on the screen, you would see that hi counts 4 touches, and after that dont recognize more touches for 4 or 5 seconds... after it restarts the count from one to four and continue the same problem... With ICS will be resolved this bug??? Thanks in Advance!!!
I would say it's the app/emulator that is acting up not the phone, and that's up to the developer to fix
It's more or less like that. It's the phone fault too, because on other smartphones this problem doesn't exist. Sony made something like a tiny mistake with multitouch, that's is not perfect on every app. This is visible in some emulator games or that known app, Multitouchtester.
I was waiting for someone who had the same problem. The problem is not solved.
it's a compatibility issue and the developers are supposed to address this issue
