Similar issue to you. I have a Sony Bravia LCD TV and while it appears to start playing the video, it displays unsupported format or something like that. I kept re-trying until the first frame of the video showed on my TV but then just stalled. I just gave up since it was too frustrating to get working. The thing is my wireless access point and TV are in the same living room, only 6ft apart so I don't think the problem is related to my wireless network.
I have also had no luck in 'throwing' movies to my tv, which is a Sony. It will throw music and pictures, but not films.
I will try again with the Android 4.3 update later tonight and let you know. Hopefully this functionality has been improved with the update.
Tried again but Throw is not working at all anymore. Just getting 'No device found'. I have a Sony Bravia LCD and Sony Blu Ray Player and neither is recognized by my Xperia Z1. Not impressed at all.
It doesn't matter. I tried to Throw music from Walkman app, photos from Album app and home videos from Movies app. Z1 does not see my Sony devices as valid renderers. When I checked both my Bravia TV and Blu Ray player, I can see the Mac address of my Z1 in the Allow list of devices. So obviously the devices had some communications if the Mac address of the Z1 is identified.
Both my Sony TV and Blu Ray are 2012 models so I'll be shocked if these are no longer supported. Sony needs a better guide on how to use Throw and how to troubleshoot.
I m also facing same problem. I save the video file in sd card. sometime display loading when open the movie app. try on samsung phone is ok .it is very disappointing with the movie app even the music app also unable to play mp3 file and keep display " loading" . need to retart the phone again.
