Move apps to SD card

Dear Sony Tech Support,

I’ve bought a Sony Xperia V and use a 16GB SD card as an extension. After a couple of days, it turned out to me that there is absolutely no way of moving the app files to the external card. Sorry to say that, but it’s a shame that we are bound to the internal storage. I have two larger games (1GB each) installed and about 3 smaller ones, and that’s it! I’m unable to install additional ones due to lack of space. Everything that was movable date has been put on the SD card. Now I’m only able to push apps between system space and internal storage, which doesn’t help at all. To be able to move apps to the external card, I should root my device, but I didn’t want to lose the DRM keys, Bravia Engine, warranty, etc. With this ungrateful situation you are forcing Sony users to hack their phones that I’m still trying to avoid. Please correct this in an upcoming update, because even my six years old iPhone handled the disk space better, and it didn’t affected the usage so badly. The phone is advertised with 8GB storage that is actually about 3+2, which is unacceptable if we are unable to use external SD cards.

I'm sorry to hear you are disappointed. I will forward this feedback internally.

I've been wondering the same. There seems to be no solution for locked / unrooted phones. However, if you have rooted your v then you can find a handful of apps online that do the trick

Dear Support,

Are there any new development on this?

I haven't heard of any planned changes for this.

Sorry to hear that. You can increase the disappointed customer counter on this issue... I even bought a 32 Gigabytes microSd card. So i can copy a lot of mp3s on it, and keep my applications on 2 gigabytes. My ZTE Blade did better... I mean it's a cool phone, a really like it, but it's a shame in 2013... I keep getting "over 75% percent" message. Even i have hell a lot of space on the sdCard i can not do anything?

Hey, Mr Xperia, please do something.

Samsung just released a sw update for their S4 to allow apps going on the SD card. Why not you?

Why is this question assumed as answered? People are suffering the same on different forums! No solution was provided, not even a workaround. My workaround suggestion would be to switch to another phone brand, and then we can consider this question answered...

This is a real pain Sony. I've installed off-line maps for my GPS software (CoPilot) and now nearly everytime I unlock my phone I get a low storage warning, and have to clear it every time. It's very frustrating, with no way to turn of the warning.

Unfortunately there is nothing left to move. All photos, music and videos are on my SDCard with plenty of room to spare.

My 3 year old Motorola Defy had no trouble storing the map data on an external SDCard. In 2013, things should not be going backwards!
