Hey guys, i have an arc and a few days ago i started having the following problem:
-without installing any application the MMS i send or receive started coming too small, for example i send an mms with almost 300km (operator size limit) and the receiver get the same MMS with only 10kb, with a poor image quality. I also send MMS to myself and happens the same thing, even the MMS i receive from other people always arrive very small ... this didn't happened before, i have the arc almost for a year now and it's the first time im having this problem.
I already restored the phone to factory defaults and it's the same... i updated to latest version (xxx.62) .. and still the same. i also installed handcent sms to see if by trying to send mms by an 3rd party app it would fix it ... but no.
any ideas?
thanks
this seems to be more of a network issue
go to settings -> sony ericsson -> internet settings -> ok

Hey there, thanks for your reply.
I already did that, my APN settings are correct... also this started happening without changing a thing, i receive lots of MMS everyday and it always worked fine.
Also when i restored to factory defaults i always do an automatic search for apn settings. this always worked to me... but i just re-checked, apn settings are fine.
😕 don't know what to do
I would say its a network issue, but to be safe you can borrow another SIM card and try it on your phone see if the problem persists, you do have a data plan right?

This sounds like a network related problem to me, since you get the same problem using another messaging app in the phone.
I suggest that you contact your local support team to have them verify this with the same operators as you have been using.

Hello There, i appreciate all your help and answers through all this days but this subject is getting me crazy. I already did everything, i swapped the SD card, i formatted reseted whatever the ARC and it always happens the same thing. my network operator says everything is fine and the problem it's not related to them ... the thing that confuses me the most is that i can send MP3/video mms with almost 300kb .. so this kind of supports the idea that everything is fine with my operator... the only problem are the pictures, i send a picture to myself with almost 250kb and full detail and i receive a thumbnail with 10kb 😕 ... i'm gonna search a local Sony Ericsson support center in Portugal..my guess is there isn't any 😕
We have 3 Sony phones. Third one is latest Sony Z1. All 3 have this problem! It is NOT network related. I called the carrier, they confirmed that this is Sony problem. It started happening just recently on ALL OUR SONY phones. I think its softwear uypdate related. Also, I checked with other people who use Nokias, they receive ugly small pictures only from our Sony phones, also they use the same carrier. Also, if you go to messages, then click add, then add photo, you will see how your phone will say RESIZING. Which is the answer to our question, i guess. The phone resized the picture to ugly small before sending it out. When we receive pictures, the same thing happens too. Now, the qestion is how do we change that setting. Is there a funcntion that can be disabled in order to prevent our Sony phones from resizing imagies? Please, someone, help, MMS are our absolute favorite thing about smart phones that we paid so much for!!!!
Exactky the same thing happens on our Sony phones, and we are in Ukraine! So has to be Sony related not network related. I sent a pic to myself, phone recized it to 32K before sending out. But when it came it was already 8K. Where did 27K go? Did anyone find out whats cosing this? Its been almost 2 years since previous post, and I now have this problem.
None of this works.
