Missing file shows in gallery

Heres the issue..
A couple of days ago, i recorded a couple of videos with my phone..
Uploaded em to facebook.. However, the last video somehow disappered from the phone, after it was uploaded..
Ive have tried to see if it was because it was damaged somehow, by connecting the phone to the pc..
This is where i discovered that the file was gone..
Why does the video still show up in the gallery on the phone??
It cant be played or deleted.. i can do nothing with it!!
Is there a solution to this, either recover the file or deleting the "remains" from the gallery??

I faced the same problem with images. I had deleted images through my PC but it was still showing up in the gallery. There will be some temp thumbnail files still stored somewhere. If you download astro file manager app you will be able to browse through all files on your phone. Check the tmp folder and temp folder and glance through other folders as well. Once you delete these thumbnail files from the phone it will no longer show up in the gallery.

Settings > applications > all > gallery > clear data

Have you enabled Auto Sync ?

maybe that the reason you can't delete it.

This video could have Syncd by one of the services

I see you had mentoned about facebook

If you have turned auto sync for that then go to settings > account and sync > selct face > manu button > remove account

See if it still exists there

And even try what iamvarung suggested ( cound very well be the solution) Slightly_smiling_Face

Tried the astro file manager, didnt do much though..
But maybe i overlooked something!!

The gallery data deleting was tried, and didnt help either..

I disabled Auto Sync first day i had the phone.. And still is, just checked Winking_Face

I never autosync..

However, i manually tells it to upload pictures and videos from time to time..

But i found it to be the timescape app. that messed it all up, after i tried to clear the data in the settings..
Restarted the phone and the gallery updated it self, and its all good now Slightly_smiling_Face

Allright, i know theres a connection between timescape, and prettymuch anything else you want it to do..
But since its installed on the phone, and the gallery tells it whats in the albums, how can the timescape mess all that up? dosent make much sence to me..

oh ya.. and why the heck would it delete it self in the first place?

I have had a similar problem but with Google+ not Facebook.  I have taken a video, watched it back on the phone then after a while once the Google+ app has uploaded the video I have gone back to the gallery, the thumbnail was still there but the video can't be played as the video file itself had been deleted.

hmm, could sound like a common issue.. guess theres nothing else to do, than transfer the videos and pictures to the pc..
Its just annoying and it should not be able to delete it self!!

Thats bad, i have no idea why it deletes itself....  or where the problem lies...

Its possible to rule out when tested with other brand's phone ( samsung ? )

agreed..
I dont know if its possible, when the file has been transfered, the data from completion or something like that, tells the phone, that the file was moved, instead of being copied to the target destination and thereby deletes the file..
Its just 1 of many possibilities..
Could be an android software issue, is what im thinking..

I have only had this problem on the Xperia S (and only with a couple of files).  I have never seen it with any of my other Android devices (ZTE Blade, HTC Desire, HTC Sensation XE, HTC Flyer). On both occasions it has been with fairly large video files being uploaded to Google+ automatically when connected to wifi.  It doesn't appear that any of my smaller video files have ever been lost.
