Microphone turns OFF

The microphone keeps going off on my z3 compact I have torture phone off and on everytime is there anything I can do to stop this happening

Do you mean that it does not work for calls? Are you doing something special when you notice that the microphone turns off? Using a specific application or similar? 

Perhaps you can use the phone in safe mode for a while to see if same behaviour appear:

I do occasionally have this issue. Last time I suspect it was after screen mirroring on my TV. Solution was to restart. I just upgraded to 23.4.A.1.200 so I'll see what happens

I think that some apps gets control over microphone and won't release it for other apps to use it, this was reported to be cause by Skype, and OK google detection from any screen.

I had the OK Google issue. This is unrelated in my case.

Screen mirroring app might be one of these apps controlling the mic and not releasing it.
