Hi,
ive had Sola for about a month and so far im quite happy with it. Unfortunately, last week it started having some problems with microphone. When I make a phone call or record a video, there is a lot of noise in it (such as being on the plane or high wind).
I also found out that same thing happens when using head set.
Any ideas whether its hardware or software issue and what could be causing it?
Thank you
Luke
I'm sorry to hear you're having problems. I wouldn't be able to confirm whether it was software or hardware related without examining the handset however have you tried performing a software repair through the PC Companion software to see if this helps?

have you tried the microphone test on the service menu? just dial *#*#service#*#* go to service test and look for microphone and secondary microphone..
Hi Aimee, I've tried to get it repaired via the software but with no luck. What actually happens is that the application freezes. I'm yet to try after hard reset of the phone to see if that makes any difference and will post once I do so.
Thank you for now.
Howdy.
I didnt know about the menu and have tried it now. When i do microphone test for both there is a LOT of noise in the background.
Also, I found out that it does while making a phone call, skype call and also while recording video.
Moreover, I even tried using the headset (not the original one) and it still does it, which is weird?
I might test it with sony's one. And try to do a software repair if that makes any difference.
Otherwise, I wouldnt have a clue what to do with it.
Thank you.
I see, did you try it on a low noise environment? try also to enable Noise Supression, it is found on the call settings,
Hi Aimee,
I got the PC companion to work and tried to repair the phone by uploading a new copy of the firmware, but aint working. It seems that it might be a hardware fault, but unfortunately I wont be able to return to the country of purchase for some time. Is there a way to have it looked at in another country?
Many thanks
I tried it in a quiet room, with the same effect. Tried both Noise Suppresion ON and OFF with no effect. See attached video to see whats happening
hmm, that is a problem, yeah, unfortunately your warranty is only applicable to the place where you bought your phone, but I suggest you still contact a sony service center near you, and what they can do to helpl. or I don't know if possible if you can contact the original seller and tell them the problem see if they can do something.
