Micro USB cover issues on z2

The covering for the micro USB port on my z2 is not sealing, when I seal it the cover pushes itself back out and does this very slowly, what can I do to prevent this from continuing

Hi Mate,

I would check that the cover is free from any dirt round the seal etc, and try again.

If the cover is broke then looks like it will need to go for repair, you got warranty with the device ? Not sure if you can just purchase the cover from somewhere as its attached to the device itself 😕

Hope this helps mate

All Xperia phones come with a warranty. Those who are lucky have a Sony Service Center in their country. Others will have to take it to the retailer and wait 3 months for repairs. At least this is the case in Finland and that's the reason why i'm living with the flaws of my Z2.

Cheers for that mate btw you wouldn't happen to know if there is a sony service centre in manchester and as I purchased the phone 1 month ago the manufacturers warranty is still valid so will a repair be covered by that warranty

The European warranty is for 24 months, and as far as it isn't a user damage, but a faulty device, it will be repaired for free or exchanged for a new device. Some examples can't be fixed due to bad alu-frame construction (port holes too shallow to fit the cover).
On main sony page you will find the adressess of sony services

Sony Centre is in the Trafford Centre in Manchester.

Sony Center is different from Sony Service Center. I went to Sony Center in Finland and they just said that they are just another retailer.

Disappointed to have issues with usb flap opening while in my pocket, the phone is only 8 weeks old and now the flap has fallen off.

Advised by Sony to return the phone for repair, although this is not a practical solution.

Ordered a new part and magnetic charger adaptor from internet.

Maybe the magnetic charger connection should be standard, so that the usb port does not need to be uncovered?

Sony's comment would be appreciated.:smileysad:

Buy a DOCKING STATION and save your flaps. Not available from Sony

I've had this problem on an Xperia Z.

The charging port cover was damaged by constant opening to charge. This tiny rubber seal made it potentially unwaterproof. Sony Repair service told me that "if there is ANY sign of water ingress - even though the phone still works, we will refuse to repair it" They would NOT sell me the flap kit, even though it's easily repaired (but fiddly)

They then wanted me to send them the phone to check, upon which, if damage was caused by me (obviously) then it'd cost £15 to return. They admitted it was a "design fault" but if it was covered under warranty would cost around £65 to fix...

What do you think my reply was?...
