Micro SD card: Maximum Supported Read/Write Speed Rating?

I want to purchase a 64GB Micro SDXC card for my new Sony Xperia Z1 Compact and would like to get the fastest card (read/write speed) compatible with (i.e. useable by) the phone, but I do not want to waste money buying a card that has a faster read/write speed than the maximum speeds supported by the phone. What is the maximum read/write speed of the Xperia Z1 Compact for micro SDXC cards and what would you recommend?

It looks that Sandisk Extreme card is good enough for Z1 Compact.

Extreme Plus doesn't work better.

Yeah, it was actually cheaper so no loss here Grinning_Face

That's very interesting kind3r - Did you measure these read write speeds with the micro SD card while it was actually plugged into the micro SD memory card slot on the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact mobile phone? I.e., were your read write speeds actually measured using test software running on the Z1 Compact itself?

It would be very helpful if you could answer my question above about the details of the speed tests you conducted, as I want to purchase a SanDisk 64GB microSD card but I really don't know whether to get the Extreme or the much more expensive Extreme Plus, but I do want a micro SD card which will give the fastest possible write and read times which the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact can handle.

Sorry for the delay, I used A1 SD Bench on the phone https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.a1dev.sdbench .

Does anyone know if a z1 is compatible with a samsung micro sdhc uhs-132gb pro the device uses 3.0 and 2.0 ports and the read speed is 90mb/s the write speed is 80mb/s anyone out there who can advise please? Also I got a cheap 32 gb card on ebay and certain videos it will not play others it will I tried formatting still the same, it plays music all right pictures are fine but when I formatted this card it is only in fat 32 format I cannot change the format in any way, again any advice appreciated.

Samsung MicroSD cards are among the best, slightly better than their SanDisk priced equivalents. You can read online benchmarks and reviews.

Samsung even makes the internal Flash of the phone, and almost every other phone including iPhone, as they are the largest producer world wide.

Only companies that manufacture Nand flash are Samsung, Micron (Crucial) with Intel, SanDisk, Toshiba with Kingston. The rest buy from them and repackage under their own brand.

Correct me if Im wrong.

However I dont think the phone's controller will let you get above 40-45 MB/s Read/Write. So no need for 90MB/s cards other than because most of them are MLC unlike the lower end TLC ones.

Either get Sandisk Extreme or Samsung Pro both are MLC based and will last much longer. The Samsung Evo and Sandisk Ultra are TLC based.
