Does this happen with all people who call you? or just that friend only? if anything at all it might be a problem on his device.

Hi @Faizol,

As @nolramlb mentioned, does this happen for every call you make? If that is the case you can test the microphone in your device by going to Settings > About phone > Diagnostics > Test > Microphone. Are you hearing an echo of your voice here as well?

Hi,

i have the same problem, no matter if i call someone or if i receive a call. Doesnt matter if its from/to a moblie or any other source.

There are also some pretty big Threads in this Forum about the same issue. But there were no helpful answers besides substituting the whole phone, which didnt even help in many cases since the brand new phone had the same problem.

I also did the Diagnostics and Test, which all worked fine and there were no issues. But it still existed while using the phone afterwards.

After all i read, it is believed to be the second microphone which turns itself on for no reason, thus creating the echo.

So my question is, can i deactivate the second mic manually, if not is there some update or something similar that lets me do that or does it for me?

If not, what steps do i have to take to get a replacemnent? i really dont want to do that and occupy myself with the hustle that goes with it but since nothing else seems to help what else can we do?

sincerly

Hi @SvAd,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are having with your phone.

There are a couple of things we can try to rule out this being software related or not.

Have you tried making a call while only connected to the GSM-network instead? If not, go to Settings > More > Mobile networks > Preferred network mode > Select GSM-only and reboot your phone. Are you still experiencing this?

Could you check if the same thing occurs while in safe mode or directly after having performed a software repair using Xperia Companion?

Hey, had the same problem, but only when engaged speakerphone. I sent the phone to Repair 3 times... however I will note that in the last couple days a maintenance update was applied and since then, my friends have not reported their voice echoing.  Maybe it has been fixed. I tend to think it was a noise cancellation issue. I still can't use speakerphone at all in a noisy environment as all people here is the background noise.
