mic not clear

Whenever i record something on my sony xperia arc s, say my voice or a piece of music, it isn't clear at ALL. The noise is very evident and annoying. This problem arises only when i record something on my phone.It hasn't affected my conversations so far.

What app have you been using to record? Perhaps this is something that can be optimized by the app developer since the audio is clear using the same mic for calls.
