Memory (Display) related clarification required

Hi,

   I bought Live with walkman last Feb... Initially I was disappointed as phone was like normal phone and it was slow as well..

   I updated the OS to Android ICS through PC companian and was bit happy. Later, I updated with latest Firmware (4.1.B.0.587) and happy with some of the bugs were fixed. But, Still, My handset was slow. Then I did factory reset and formatted SD card. Later, it performs good and fast. Now, I am too happy with Live with walkman.

   But, I need an clarification regarding memories.

1. Menu -> settings -> Apps

    As soon launched, Phone memory shown as 280MB /320MB used. After sometime (within 15-20 seconds), changes to 205MB. If I switch to "On SD Card" and come back, I can see 178MB used.

   With this display, I am happy that, With latest ICS update, Memory Management is good. But, later, I installed few application and uninstalled some apps (it is out of installed latest only).

  Now, I can see that, 161MB used and 259MB free. How it is possible? as I have not uninstalled all the apps installed.

2. Menu -> Settings -> Storage

  Under phone memory, It is listed as Total space -> 420 MB, Apps -> 236MB and Available -> 109MB.

Which one to believe? or what is the difference between above two informations?

Please clear me...

Another, improvement in memory management with latest ICS update, I could able notice is always Free RAM memory I could able to get is more than 100MB. As soon I boot the device, I could able to see 160MB minimum. Hope, due to this only, now, My handset is fast enough. With Ginger bread always RAM free space was less than 100MB (most of the time 95MB).

Thanks to Sony (Ericsson) and Android for such a good hardware and OS / firmware.

Looking for other bug fixes in near future.

Only always disappointing thing with this smartphone is Battery.

Available RAM differs and depends on what applications that run in the background.

Settings > App's shows you RAM memory and Settings > Storage shows you internal storage.

Our ICS have RAM management improvements.

I have refered the display at different places at same time.

Now, Menu -> settings ->Apps

    Here at 4:19:05 pm : 190MB

and at Menu settings -> storage is 264MB

Then at 4:20:20pm Menu-> settings -> apps it is 190MB

and at Menu->settings -. storage, it is  264MB....

This is what difference i am getting and could not able to co-relate between this two displays.

I knew that, RAM content will vary time by time which is based on execution of programs. But, the memory I am refering here is Phone memory (user usable area) and hope where application informations saved. Other area called Internal RAM, I am not referring where program execution takes place.......

Also, as per my knowledge Phone memory and RAM are different physical memory available in Handset which is of 320MB Internal Memory and 512MB RAM (Mentioned in white paper page 6). Out of which 320MB is user accessable that is application installations, app data's will be saved in this area.

Finally, what I want to know is, further how much memory available for new applications are excisting applications to save its data to avoid warning for low memory space....
