There is a similar complaint to this on the Xperia T thread - but it wasnt answered. I'm posting the same here to see if anyone has had the same & got around it.
If I start the Media Remote program it gives me a graphic like a remote in the centre of the screen. Nothing on the display works at all. Theres no part of the screen that responds except one button that works to link to the Google Play store where it states Media Remote is already installed. If you click open, you get back to the same screen in the app - and the only option again is to link back to Google Play. So you go round & round. The app doesn't work at all for me.
