Media Player doubts

Hello.

I just bought a w100i aka Spiro for its simplicity and its music orientation. But for my surprise the media player is ordering the songs in alphabetical order instead of track number order. And also, one mp3 album was not playing.

So I donwloaded the Update Service and followed the instructions.

After that those songs played, but the songs are still in alphabetical order.

Thanks in advance!

The media player in this handset only sorts these files in alphabetical order sorry.

That's a very bad news. I was not expecting that.

Would it order correctly in any other format?

And also, does it show album art?

The format of file will not affect this unfortunately. Album art should indeed be displayed though if the files do not already have this meta data added you may need to transfer them via MediaGo.

I feel very upset. I bought a phone with Walkman written on it that don't have the basic expected features. Is there any way to ask Dev people for changes?

Media Go shows the artwork (in file's embedded artwork), but the phone does not. Any tips?

When transferring tracks from Media Go, did you right-click on the album cover thumbnail and then select 'Tranfer to--Memory card' (best to use this method), instead of drag and drop? If it still doesn't work, then when right-clicking on the album cover in Media Go, select 'Get missing artwork', wait for Gracenote to retrieve the data and then  transfer the tracks to the phone again, after deleting any of these tracks that may already be in the phone from the first transfer. Hope this helps.

Dr. Chris, the context menu has two options:

  • Get album artwork
  • Get Missing Properties

I tried both. I folowed your directions and it did not work.

Maybe there is a file size limit? Or image dimensions limit?

Sam, I insist that there should be an update to order the songs by track number. How may I proceed?

I know that it's not a critical problem, but I can't see the point of a mp3 player to order the songs alphabetically. Do you understand?

If this happens with every album (as sometimes the album art has to be manually added to the album in Media Go), then this is an issue with the phone itself, and there are other threads on this forum reporting the same problem with the Spiro.

However, what you can try is: first of all get the album art cover from either a website such as Amazon (or take a picture of it and transfer it to the PC) and save it in your Pictures folder on the PC.Then, open Media Go--Music--select the Album--Right-click--select Properties--here click on Add--this will lead you to your Pictures folder--click on the picture of the album art cover--click on the Open tab and then it will be added to the album--click on the Apply tab and then transfer the album to the phone (remember to delete the previous copy from your phone).Let me know if that works

Dr. Chris,

I done it before your previous tips. All my songs have artwork embedded on them.

How can I contact the software team to report these issues?

I'm disapointed, but thank you for your time anyway.

Hi Eric, since as Sam mentioned, your phone should be displaying the artwork, I suggest you re-run the update service and failing that, try a master reset. The Spiro is unfortunately known to have software stability issues, so updating/re-setting may indeed solve the problem.Let me know if this works.
