Media disappears from SD card

I have had this phone less than a week and am generally happy with it. However a major factor in purchasing it was to replace my old dead ipod.

So I put a 128GB Micro SD card in and started copying all my music across, which took forever. Now only some of it shows up in the Walkman app (and Google Play Music). I have tried all the suggestions I have found online as this seems to be a common problem but no joy.

Looks like this phone is not fit for purpose. Do I really have to go back to Apple or can this be fixed?

The card is an expensive SanDisk Ultra so that is not the problem. I have already spent too much of Christmas on this and I am typing this on Christmas day.

Reformat your sd card to fat32 and re-transfer some of your files (not all) and test it.

Also, have you encrypted your sd card?

I tried this yesterday and it worked initially. However I added more music to my card today and the phone was not seeing it. I put the card back into the reader on my PC and got the weirdest thing - the folder for the album was there but there were no MP3 files inside!

I copied the files into the folder on the card again and they appeared to be there, ejected the card and put it back in and the folder was empty again!

Do you think this is a dodgy micro SD card? It's a 128GB SanDisk Ultra but I got it on eBay for £45, which seemed very cheap. Do you think it may be fake?

Hi, do you have another SD Card you could try.......doesnt have to be a big capacity one, if you can just try adding files as normal & see if it works.....that way you can narrow down the cause to either the card or phone :smileysmileywink:

The eBay seller has refunded me without question, so I have ordered a new card, this time from Amazon. I will report back once I receive it.

Hi, here's hoping it was just a faulty card......it is a bit of a minefield with the amount of sellers who have cards etc.....keep us informed & good luck :smileysmileywink:
