Marshmallow: Keep Wifi on during sleep

Hello.

I upgraded to Marshmallow today and I like it so far. One thing I've noticed is that my Wifi isn't turning off when the phone is locked and in sleep mode like it used to in Lollipop. In my phone settings, 'Keep Wifi on during sleep' is set to 'NEVER' – and yet it's staying active. Why is this? It's draining my battery unnecessarily.

@Alexdon: Okay, just tried leaving it for 13 minutes and had the same result. Wifi remained on despite it being set to never.

@Robertods88: Lollipop used to deactivate my Wifi within about 30 seconds of putting the display to sleep. Marshmallow isn't allowing my wifi to turn off when the device is asleep. I've left it for over 10 minutes; the wifi remained on throughout. The OS won't let my wifi turn off unless I physically turn it off. And when my 'Keep wifi on during sleep' settings are set to never it is deeply frustrating.

Am I going to have to reinstall the software with PC Companion? I've looked online and other users (Nexus, Samsung, etc) are reporting similar things. Some are finding that their wifi always turns off when the device is asleep, others are finding that their wifi always stays on despite being set to never.

I just don't understand what's wrong. Maybe if I do software recovery on PCC it will stabilise or something. As I said above, battery life seems much better with Marshmallow, but this is a weird drain on my power when it shouldn't be happening. I think Sony employees should be taking note of this and explore possible causes.

I appreciate both of your attempts to help me, so thank you.

I can confirm

Sleep Wifi set on NEVER doesn't produce the right result, so ever after 15 minutes, it's still visible connected and ready to SURF WEB

I did a CLEAN UPDATE going to 6.0 so it's clearly a bug

Guys please provide or try by yourself

I never discovered this because I keep it on ALWAYS

I've tested this here but for me it works fine. It does however seem that it might take a bit longer for Android 6.0 to go to sleep. It will not turn off WiFi as soon as you turn off the the display.

Could you try this again with safe mode and wait perhaps 15 minutes or so? For me and the apps i use, it usually takes around 5-10 minutes before it turns off.

Hello again.

I reinstalled Marshmallow using PCC and all is fine now. Wifi turns off within a few minutes of going to sleep and my battery life is far better than it was on Lollipop. I've managed to get two days out of my last charge with heavy use of Facebook, Google Fit, email, etc.

Thanks for your help with this anyway!

According to me this is the solution for this "bug":
If you use Viber go to settings -> General -> Wi-Fi sleep policy ->
(tap-on) Use device's settings

I have the same problem on my Z4 tablet and it drains my battery. Already reset to factory setting so many times and repaired with PCC, but it doesn't seem to help.
