So, the Z3C will be offered Android 6. I think that's great news, and I'm glad to finally be using an Android smartphone that receives decent update support (yes, I'm looking at you, Samsung…).
So, two facts first: Secure Boot and FDE are mandatory for new devices that come with Marshmallow and meet the speed requirements; and files on Sony devices employing FDE cannot be synced or managed with Sony's desktop management software, that is Bridge for Mac and Companion for PC - in particular, you can't make backups of FDE'd devices.
The question is: does anyone know whether Sony will at last bake-in support for syncing and backing-up FDE'd devices with their desktop management software when Marshmallow hits? It seems improbable that they wouldn't, but I can find no official announcement in this regard. My hope is that this support would also be backwards-compatible with FDE'd devices still running Lollipop, or that are updated to Marshmallow.
Don't forge to ask here too http://blogs.sonymobile.com/2015/10/19/sonys-concept-for-android-marshmallow-now-rolling/?rl=global-...
I posted on the blog as you suggested. However, with only 6 replies from the PR team out of the 61 comments (most of which were of the, "Thanks, we'll pass that feedback along!", type) and none at all since the 23rd October, I'm presuming that was a waste of time. As for Local Support: I sincerely doubt they'd have any information about unreleased software, and won't waste more time with Live Chat on that topic.
EDIT: And so, it appears that the comment I posted on the blog didn't pass moderation, or somehow vanished in the ether between the "Success" dialogue and the page refresh. Only companies who really want to ignore you offer so many means of contacting them.
