Mac software support : will it improve ?

Hi everyone,

I just bought 2 Xperias (U and P) and I am very pleased with the functionality, look and feel.

However I am very disappointed about the Mac support by Sony. The Bridge software is very basic and halfhearted: no backup, no direct connection ("explorer"), no drag and drop, no repair function, update does not work (shuts down phone, yes I know the workaround).

The PC solution looks a lot better.

I do not want to buy a Win PC just for managing my phone ! In this case, I could have bought an iPhone: its the same price as an Xperia plus a (2nd hand) Windows Laptop.

Is Mac still so exotic that it is not necessary to support Mac users ? If Sony want some parts of the iPhone cake,  they should think this over ...

So my question is: will the Mac integration improve or will it be neglected ?

I think it will certainly evolve, it has seen so many updates in such little time.

Which version of Bridge are you using? The 3.0 version included a few of the things you are asking for, like repairing and exploring the phone (+drag&drop). Regarding the update it's being investigated right now and there will surly be a fix out soon. But I can agree that the PC support is better today. I'm a Mac user myself so I'm doing my best to improve the Mac support.

Repairing the software never worked for me... It always says that I've got the latest software installed, and never allows me to continue repairing.

I have the latest Bridge version, 3.0

Updating the phones with the Bridge  is rather tricky: as the phones get shut down the moment the new software is to be transferred, you have to unplug and replug the USB connection in the right time. I won´t do it too much, as it might damage the USB port. But you mentioned a fix in sight ...

Also you cannot create or rename folders when "exploring".

And the worst: no backup possible of your phone.

I was very disappointed when I found out that Mac is apparently still exotic for Sony.

Sorry to disgorge my frustration ...
