M5 touchscreen stops working

Hello everybody

I have this anoying issue with M5 that drives me crazy. So, phone start turning of from time to time, and i handle that with carying power bank with me all the time which was also anoying but ok. And then all a sudden touch screen stop working. I connected it to Xperia Companion to try to fix it that way as i saw instructions online both from Sony officialy and some other people. Companion is asking for turning on MTP mode which can't be done as i can't touch the screen. So i bought otg cable just cause of that, connected it, nothinng happens. Now i have to go trough settings on phone to change some usb device settings which i can't cause one more time my screen is not responding and also can't use mouse. so i turned it off as Sony suggested and turn it on with mouse already connected, again nothing. i tried cable on other phone just to make it sure that cable is working properly and it does.
First of all it's such a shame for company such as Sony to not make it officialy that these phones are faulty and offer service for them.
any suggestions? even though i don't think there is solution but taking it to service

I understand your frustration but you shouldn't assume this

You can contact your Local support to get it inspected.

Turn off your device > run XC on your computer > follow the steps but keep the phone turned off, but I think the issue it's hardware and not Software related

When i connect phone while turned off nothing is happening. Only charging. But XC doesn't see device. Also even though phone is still under waranty local support can't do anything in my country cause phone is bought in states.

To repair in this case, open Xperia companion, switch off the device and connect by pressing volume down button.

Since the XC can't recognize the device, it will ask you which device you connected. Slct your model(not just m5 check your model no. also). Then proceed

Respond if this works☺

In this case i can hear sound from windows that some device is connected but that's it. XC is still saying Please connect your Sony Xperia device... also after few minutes on usb cable phone just turn on by itself

When you press and hold volume down button it shouldn't charge

Okay now i don't have a pc with me hence I'm guessing it would be it. Give it a try.

1. Open XC
2. Press & hold volume down button and connect it to pc. Remember you should hold the vol. down button until repair starts. Or device will charge.
3. In XC select software repair.
4. Since it can't detect your device, it asks which device and you have to select correct model.
5. When download of software starts you can remove pressing the vol down button

So in this case, I only hear windows sound that something is connected and after 2 seconds sound for device disconnected. I keep pressed volume down and every 3 minutes same thing- just sound of device connected and after that disconnected. I kept volume down pressed for 10 minutes and nothing. I am pretty sure this is hardware-wise problem

If it is connected and disconnected randomly, it might be fault of usb cable or port. Did you try using other port or usb cable?

If same issue arises using other port or usb cable also, then it it might be your mobiles usb port problem or really hardware issue.
But before that make sure that your pc's usb port and usb cable have no problem 🙂
