Hi All,
I have an Sony Xperia M2 that I can't connect to my PC.
When I try to connect via a USB cable, the phone beeps and Win 10 puts an alert saying "Device null is connected. Click here to start Sony PC Companion". If I do, PC Companion says "Phone is not connected".
If I unplug and replug the USB cable the phone beeps again, PC Companion shows a spinner saying "Searching for phone/tablet" but it stops and says "Phone is not connected".
I checked the USB cable with another device (OK), reinstalled PC Companion, restarted my PC, switched developer options and USB debugging mode on and off, and connection type from media transfer to storage mode and back but no luck. AFAIK my phone software is up to date.
Before I reinstalled PC Companion the Windows message was "Device Sony M2..." instead of "Device null..." that I get now.
I also checked windows Device Manager. I found that there is a problem with Sony M2 MTP USB device driver, drivers were not installed. I tried to update driver but Windows says it had found the driver but couldn't install because "System couldn't find the file". Then what had it found..?
Do you guys have any idea what's wrong and what to do?
Thanks,
Peter
Thanks Quester, I've downloaded the ZIP file. Inside I found 2 .inf files. I can install so0106adb.inf successfully, but the other one (sorndis.inf) drops an error msg: "Installation error: The INF file from an external provider doesn't contain digital signature information".
so0106adb wasn't enough. My PC still can't recognise the phone.
Hi @Hellsing,
Your PC should only need to install Windows standard MTP driver in order to connect to your phone so you should not have to install any Xperia M2 specific drivers.
Instead of trying to update the driver in Windows Device Manager, could you try choosing to uninstall the currently installed driver for your phone, then restart your PC and connect the phone again. Windows should then try to install the driver anew.
