Lower touchscreen unresponsive

The lower part of the touchscreen of my Xperia V is completely unresponive. The only affected part is the "back"-button, the home button and the active apps button. The is extremely frustrating and the phone is as good as impossible to use. Is this a common problem? And is it possible to fix?

If you have tried to restart your phone but the same behaviour persist, I suggest that you perform a software repair on your phone via PC Companion to exclude software related problems:

In PC Companion you press start on Support Zone > Start on Update the phone/tablet software > Repair phone/tablet (the blue clickable link in the message) > Follow these steps without having your device connected to the PC.

Follow the instruction that appears in the program and do not connect your device until this guide tells you how to connect it.
