lost messages during update

hi please help i just updated my phone (which i have done before) and this time I have lost all my messages and some of these contained pictures i wanted to keep please tell m,e there is a way of retrieving them as I need them........ i have updated my phone before this has never happened HELP!!!!:smileyinfo:

Make sure you backup everything

Settings -> privacy -> Back up my data and Automatic restore should be selected

How to install it

You need to

go to settings -> applications -> check unknown sources

download IO File Manager

download the backup & restore app, transfer it to your SD card, use OI file manager to find it -> tap on it -> install it

Contacts

just to play it safe sync your contacts w/ google if you haven't already

open your phonebook

press MENU button -> tap on Send Contacts -> select all -> send it to your email

on your computer

-> download the file -> go to your gmail -> click on contacts -> click on more actions -> on the drop down menu click on "import" -> choose the file -> and click import

Apps

Don't worry so much about backing up your apps

on your computer go to

market.android.com -> log in -> click on My Library -> and send all your apps to your phone

SMS/MMS

if you don't want to use the backup & restore app then

Install "backup SMS" to back up your SMS and MMS to your Gmail

An easier way to install the Backup & Restore app

download the apk on your computer, send it to yourself through email, make sure you send it to your Gmail

now on your phone

go to settings -> applications -> check unknown sources

wait for the email, once  you get the email, open it, and instead of downloading the attachment it will allow you to install it, voila, done

the back up data automatically and restore are always checked that has never changed and thanx for the speedy reply still no texts though?:smileysad: it is probably something simple i am missing

im gonna tiock correct answer as i know thwere is little hope but i always had the back up and restore functionality ticked which is why i am so distraught:smileyconfused:

that's quite odd, turn off your phone, remove the battery -> press and hold the power button for 5 secons -> put the battery back on and turn on your phone see if that helps

that is quite odd, are you sure you didnt delete them all? btw did you used PCC or Update Service or Flashtool?
