Loose slider / gap in closed mode

I have a loose slider when i have my phone is "closed"

There is a gap between the screen and the controller pad, that often when i use the touchscreen the touchscreen "clicks" because of the gap.
Especially noticeable when I am laying down and have the phone upwards. Extremeley irritating.

I if turn the phone upside down, there is a play / gap that descends approx 1mm, and this is the gap  that  clicks whenever i use the touchscreen. a P

Is all Xperia play this?

I also have a PSP Go, and there is nog such gap / loose slider.

I'm just thinking... Do you think it could be a problem with the back cover on the phone when you take it off and on, cause you need to put some force into it and with that force might seperate easily the 2 halfs of the phone.

Why did they make it soo shite and annoying to take the back off , why no use a simple slide mechanism, instead it's really stupid, and not only that but the back is plastic and bends very easily.

I would be really interested to hear an official response from sony ericsson about this, my 5 year old sony ericsson k800i had a very simple slide down back cover and it was padded in soft rubber aswell incase u dropped it or something, why 5 years later have sony ericsson made this premium device but made the worst ever back cover i have ever saw, and no simple slide mechanism to take off a back cover, i really do not understand the logic.

Mine is absolutely fine, no issues at all with the slider, just a small gap Slightly_smiling_Face

Sorry to hear you got an iphone 4, I sold mine to get the Play as iphone/ios is soooo limited compared to the newer android os, and how on earth can you go back from a stunning 4" screen to a tiny 3.5"?! the screen size was my biggest issue with the iphone 4 (plus the specs are getting dated now on the iphone 4, the gpu/graphics is not even close to the one in the play), plus the poor battery, poor wifi performance, signal issues etc, put it this way, the issue you had with the play is nothing compared to what is in store for you with the iphone 4! I had 3 of them in the end.

This is coming from a die hard apple fanboy, I had the iphone 2, then the 3gs, ipod touch 4 then the iphone 4, now a converted android user and sooooo happy I switched from ios! android is exciting, ios not so much, android needs to catch up on the gaming side but its getting there now, this year has been great for android gaming. I had to take the back off when I very first got it since it wasn't reading the memory card properly, and i had to take it out and re-insert it. While i do agree that the back of the device could be better to take off and better constructed, I do not think that by taking the back cover off it somehow managed to cause this problem :smileywink:.

I would also very much like to hear from a Sony Ericsson Representative about this, as if it is a problem with only some devices I can easily return mine and get a new one (bought it from Costco, 3 year warnety!!!), I can live with it, but if its not supposed to be doing this then i want it to be right :smileysilly:. From all the reviews that i have read and information i could gather this problem never came up (until this forum that is), so It would be very nice to hear from SE directly

All the games i hade for my Xperia play runs better and controls better on my Iphone 4

The screen is light years ahead of the too warm (almost yelllow) screen of the Xperia play.

The physical buttons doesn't react all the time.

I have better Wi-fi signal on my iphone 4 than Xperia Play. And I can also use it outdoors. The Xperia play have the dimmest / dullest screen i have ever seen.

There is hardly any release for XperiaPLay optimized games at the moment. Al the newer gameloft games have no support. No new Psx1 games

I'm no beginner with phones, i work daily with android programming at my work.

I have had 3 android phones  before, and with all of the phones i had to turn off all the widgets and fancy stuff that use background data, or the battery coudlnt last a day.,

the Iphone does what i want, i don't feel limited, and the music quality and the game quality is better than Xperia Play, and tha't what i was out for.

ive just bought 2 plays as xmas gifts, both seem to have looseness between tha screen and pad section,on the right hand corner on both theres an up and down movement when lightly closing the gap between top and bottom, also when pad is extended,on the one handset theres a lot of looseness ,not in the slide,it actually rattles when jiggled lightly.both plays are afew days old.concerned about longevity of the units..
