I am having a huge problem with the mobile data on my phone.
I use wifi and only turn on mobile data when I go out for a short while.
The other day youtube chewed all my mobile data $30.00 worth
I can only assume it is downloading or something before lollipop downloads only happened through a wifi setting which now I cant find.
Please tell me what to do as I cant afford $30.00 a day.
Hi maiden, welcome to the community!
If you go into Settings > Data Usage, what are the top results?
Top Results? do you mean app usage?
Yes, which apps are using the most data?
youtube 6.58mb shazam 1.37mb the rest minimal
One thing I can suggest is to go in google play store -> Setting
Under general, there is an option about auto update apps. See if its on "auto update anytime"..
Because if it is - then may be, after your lollipop update, apps got updated while you where not using wifi (but data).
(This has happened with me on another smart phone... not android.... )
How much is your data allowance in MB or GB ?
------
Another thing you may know to avoid this - set data usage limit. Setting -> Data usage -> set mobile data limit.
He got usage mainly from Youtube and Shazam, if it was Google Play updates that caused the problem he'd see Google Play in the consumption list.
store is set to update over wifi only.
If I take of restricted background data will this let apps update without wifi
I see, maiden. There is a way to limit the data usage by going into Youtube > tapping the three dots in the top right hand corner > Settings > General > Limit mobile data usage.
I have done that but you did not answer my other question.
