Live with Walkman screen color temperature - feature or flaw?

Hi

The screen color temperature of the my Live with Walkman seems too low, giving everything a yellowish feel, and the screen is not very bright.

while it is easy on the eye, compared to other displays it does seem a little too low. I read in a review that the Live display is like that, also some more people have the same issue with different devices (Xperia Pro) and (Xperia Arc).

the image is of an LG optimus V (left) vs the SE (right) both at maximum brightness.

I'm thinking of rooting and using a CM rom so I can use the renderFX to change it but before I root (and void warranty) I would like to know if this is a defect? should I get a replacement? Thnx.

Hi, before you do anything .... suggest you compare with another (or more) Live With Walkman phone. If all are the same, then it's not a defect.

 but I dont have another one to compare, thats  thats why Im posting. I just wanted to know if it is a known problem with SE phones or if it is not a problem and I just have to get use to it?

In that case, I suppose you have to wait for other LWW phone users to comment.

I guess you can always visit any particular phone shop to satisfy your 'curiousity'. Slightly_smiling_Face

I checked my LWW - enter the service menu and do the display check - it looks close to my 6500K TV reference source, but I don't have any other smartphones for comparison.

Another check would be to do the same with another new LWW in the store to see if yours is off by much. It should be sw adjustable, so if yours is different that would be indicative if a setup error.

I guess the backlight in LWW may be CCFL because the specs on GSMarena only mention LED backlighting on similar models such as Xperia Active. White LED usually have a more acrtic white temp. to start with.

I did a display check and it showed me black, white, R, G, B and the rainbow thing (I assume that means its ok?). Is there any other tests that I should try.

I got it online and the local stores doesn't seem to have it so comparing it with another LWW is not an option. When you say it maybe a setup error is there a way I can check that?

And also do you know of a way that I can change it without rooting?

Same as mine....i just only buy it via on line market 3 days ago...n after a couple hours use it....i feel there is sumthin wrong with da contrast screen. i compare it wit my old samsung galaxy mini with da same picture....LWW is to far yellow to draw the warm light (samsung draw it to more bright/wite but its close 2 normal) i dunno whts wrong with it, but many says tht its sony caracteristic warm contrast colour.....i think its more to .. annoying...(btw i couldnt set my girlfriend's foto as wallpaper anymore cz the skin looks like to yellow on LWW) Crying_Face
