LED Notification Bar Problems

I love the notification bar, when it works. But now the novelty is wearing off and the bugs are showing I'm wondering if this phone is really that good. I see quite a few posts about the LED notifications not working and I'm having the same problem. Stamina mode is off, as is low battery mode, and yet the phone more often does not show or blink the SMS or other notification light. This means I have to keep checking the phone by pressing the power button, not ideal and less practical than most other phones. Perhaps I should take this phone back for another model?

The notification bar never worked properly on my SP. It would never light up for texts. You can get around this by installing the "illumination bar notifcation" app from the play store. Select Xperia U in the settings to make sure all the different colors work. We shouldn't have to use a 3rd party app for this but until Sony fixes it with a firmware upgrade it will have to do. If you're using stamina mode you'll have to add this app as an exception and it will work perfectly.

Actually, it do works perfectly for me. Things I did:
1. Turned off stamina mode.
2. Updated to latest firmware (12.0.A.2.254)
3. Did Factory data reset.
