Now I am satisfied with how my battery lasts (around 36 hours with the help of Juice Defender and Power Saver turned on)
however in power managment when I check what wastes the battery
something called Learning Client 2.1 wastes 25% of the battery, Waht is this and can I turne it off?
Phine is running on ICS
I have same problem. Few days ago I disable "Sony info collection" from Settings -> Xperia -> Usage info settings -> Unmark "send usage info" and stop LC process manually. I play a lot with phone (switch on/off GPS, send messages, surf in net) LC process not back. Looks like this simple solution fix for me this problem.
But I still have second problem with process called "OS Android" (20% - 35% of battery). I have another Android phone (Nexus S) and this process is not exist (Process "Android system" only - 3% - 5% of battery).
Maybe somebody know something about this process ????
Best Regards
I for one cannot reproduce what gregory describes above: With 'usage info' turned off, L.Client still shows up as usual, as soon as a gps-app is started.
Has anyone else tried this setting and seen any difference?
What firmware are you on gregory, and have you made a factory reset after your latest update? I'm on B.1.54, and have not made a reset. (Often tempted to reset, as I see mild lag/stuttering behaviour..)
Johan or other from support, in december you reported:
been decided that the Learning Client will be removed in next software update. A way of doing this without impacting GPS performance has also been found.
- please do you have an estimate for when this update will be out? thanks.
Turning off 'usage info' doesn't help at all.
I've been experiencing serious performance issues upon phone 'wakeup' (unlocking) some times, which prevented me from even making calls (imagine an emergency situation and your phone responds to input with a framerate of <0.1 frames per second! *shudder*)!
Switched off that feature, to try and see, if it does anything. Immediately my phone had animation framerate somewhat improved, although, that might be a 'placebo effect' (i.e. my mind playng tricks on me :smileywink:). I'll continue testing that to see, if it helps with the serious lags.
I haven't seen the Learning Client on my phone for a while. Then again, I tend not to switch on GPS functions for now, so I guess, this is the only truly effective battery-saving 'workaround' for now.
Hi Simon,
Actually I forget to inform that LC gone after full charge cycle.
My version 6.1.1.B.1.10
After upgrade to 4.0.4 not made a reset. (and not made repaired)
I use WAZE as GPS-app and LC not shows-up. I tried switch on and switch off Waze few times - same results, no LC (battery usage view)
Best regards
Gregory
Some small correction:
LC process still exist and run (after you switch on GPS) (you can see in Settings -> Applications -> ALL tab), but do not use your battery.
I have the same problem. Would like to hear from Sony on this issue.
I have removed this app with Titanium Backup. Don't need it, phone runs fine, GPS is still fast and battery last twice as long.
Thanks Wortel - followed ur instructions plus the ones found at http://www.teamandroid.com/2012/10/07/root-xperia-go-st27-android-404-ics-official-firmware/
I suffer no more!
This is my first Sony phone and it astounds me how a company with such a reputation can stand by while so many people are inconvenienced by this application. They don't seem to give a hoot about it either - they could give perfect and simple instructions on how to disable this battery waster. Thank heavens for the support of the IT community.
Sony certainly won't instill any brand loyalty from me.
Did the same ,root titanium backup and removed learning client ...works fine i use the gps a lot with sygic and its even better now.
But our next phones,pc or camera's will not be from sony ! ,due to no support and service by sony.
Updates are 3 steps further dan the .10 we still have to use in Belgium, they don't release anything new...crapcompany.
