Hi,
As of about half hour ago it would seem my launcher has gone bust. It doen't do anything if I press on app folders or on app icon. If I long-press then an icon I get the zoomed out launch configuration view. Of all the button at the bottom of the screen, the appliction menu at least reacts and opens the application grid, but tapping any of those icons also have no effect.
I can access apps that are already running through their notifications, but can't even get to settings. I tried rebooting the phone, but it comes back up in the same state. Itried adding a new screen to the launcher, but even though the app drawer opens and I can scroll through it, any app I try to tap on to add to the new screen, does nothing.
Any help is hightly appreciated...the phone is mostly dead to me at the moment

Oh, I forgot to add, I've got a Sony Xperia Z with the ... *.340 firmware (if I remember correctly...obvisouly can't check now...the dialer is also out of commission like all the other apps
Some addtional info...I've managed to get some apps launch, but I have to tap and hold a very small spot slighly above and to the left of the icon's encloding rectangle. It's quite tricky to get the positioning just right so I don't end up tapping in the area of the adjacent app's icon. Still trying to figure out what in blazes went wrong.
it might be an app acting up

What does power & volume up do?
I seem to have it back to sanity again. I'd initially suspected Divide (which is a launcher that isolates your Exchange calendar/mail world from the rest of your phone), though that doesn't seem the problem. Otherwise, the only things I'd changed close around to when things went south was to switch off some of the UI animations.
Under "Developer Options", I'd set Window animation scale, Transition animation scale and Animator duration scale all from "1x" to "off". I'd managed to get back into Settings and re-enabled those again. A reboot later it the launcher seems back to sanity.
I've tried to switch those off again to see if I can reproduce the issue.
power & volume up for 10 seconds will force restart your phone.
ok so the issue was a different launcher and some dev settings.
I'm not convinced Divide had anything to do with it. It's still installed, running and working as it was before the launcher went wonky and after it recovered. While the launcher was confused, I could switch the Divide and it still worked flawlessly.
I'm more inclined to think Xperia Home (that's the Sony launcher?) got confused by the effects being switched off. Again, that sounds like a bit of a tenuous connection. I'll try switching off those effects again to see if it really was the cause ... I'm curious to know.
I'll keep the reset trick for another day (hopefully I won't need it).
